This year will mark the third year for the USA Miniprints for Peace and Justice exhibition for SOS ART. This nationwide print exhibition started three years ago during the peak of the Covid pandemic. While the circumstances forced the exhibit away from a physical location and opening event, it still pulled in a large number of participants. Now that the pandemic has begun to subside, the Miniprints exhibit will have its first ever physical show and furthermore, will feature art from the previous two exhibits (2020 and 2021).
Another exciting new development is that this year, up to 5 of the accepted entries will be selected as part of SOS ART’s Coup de Coeur – which means art works that “touched the heart”. The selected prints will each be awarded a $200 cash gift.
The requirements for entry are 6×6” prints on 10×10” paper. Artwork will need to be submitted unmatted and unframed and each artist can provide up to three different printed images and up to three copy prints for each of them. One of each printed images will be added to the annual SOS artist portfolio, and the remaining copy prints sold at the exhibit for $50 each ($35 to benefit the artist and $15 as a donation to SOS ART) The exhibit will be part of the annual SOS ART event to take place at the Art Academy of Cincinnati from June 24th – July 10th.
The call for entry for this show is now open with a deadline of June 5th. The focus of this show is on traditional printmaking techniques with subject matter on the themes of Peace and Justice. While this exhibit is open nationwide, Tiger Lily press has had its fair share of participants in the past. Artists including Louann Elliott, Diane Stemper, Mary Woodworth, Carole Winters, Jan Thomas, and Jonpaul Smith have all participated.
