Drypoint Into Collagraph in May

In this class students will learn (or revisit) the basic techniques of drypoint on plexiglass, and explore the possibilities of combining the boldness and detail of drypoint images with the subtle texture and color of a collagraph. In the first session we’ll freely experiment with making collagraph plates, adding different materialsโ€”such as fabric, natural fibers, papers and acrylic mediumsโ€”to develop tone and texture. We’ll also create a drypoint image, utilizing all the mark-making potential of various tools on a sheet of plexiglass. We’ll explore how to achieve delicate details, gestural lines and rich darks, all by drawing directly on the plate. No chemicals are required.

In the second session, we’llย combineย the two processes for some truly stunning prints. Experimentation, improvisation, and collaboration with other students are all encouraged!

Kathleen‘s May workshop is full, but other class offerings are available this season at Tiger Lily Press. If you’d like to be wait-listed for this class, or notified of additional sections of this workshop, please contact us and let us know! Kathleen explores various techniques such as the above to create rich images, and welcomes students of all experience levels.
